Siriú-Gamboa Trail
A trail through dense forest over the headland between Praia do Siriú and Praia da Gamboa, with glimpses of the sea.
| Length | 1.1 km |
|---|---|
| Difficulty | Moderate |
| From the Residencial to the start | About 750 m on foot, 10 min |
| Best time | On dry days: rain makes the forest and the rocks slippery. From July to November, reaching the Whale Lookout coincides with the right whale season. |
The trail links the south end of Gamboa Beach with the north end of Siriú Beach, crossing the headland through dense forest. The forest stretch is about 1.1 km long, with small openings onto the sea.
It is not signposted and has dangerous sections, so going with a local guide is recommended. Leaving from Gamboa, the Mirante da Baleia (Whale Lookout) is right there at the south end, before the forest.
Route
The trail crosses the forested headland between the north end of Praia do Siriú and the south end of Praia da Gamboa. The forest section, drawn on the map, is about 1.1 km; starting from the middle of Praia do Siriú, the walk is about 4 km in total.
Along the way, small openings in the forest look out to sea. Before entering the forest, it is worth climbing up to Mirante da Baleia at the south end of Gamboa.
