Mirante da Baleia was built by Gamboa residents to watch the sea and marine life, and became a symbol of the community's bond with nature. It offers one of the most beautiful views in Garopaba.
From July to November it is one of the best spots in the region to watch southern right whales, which come to the coast to rest, mate, give birth and nurse their calves. From May to July you can watch the traditional mullet fishing.
Points of interest
- Praia da Gamboa: the viewpoint is at the south end of the beach.
- Right whale season: from July to November, the best time to look for whales at sea.
