The House of Culture is on Rua Manoel de Araújo, in the Historic Center, facing the bay where the boats anchor. It holds the Tourist Information Center (CAT), with information about the town, the Public Library and a gallery of temporary exhibitions by local and regional artists, which usually change every two weeks.

The building also keeps the fishermen's shared shack, whale bones and panels on the town's history from the days when Garopaba lived off whaling, and has a terrace overlooking the anchored boats.
