The name comes from the time when lookouts (vigias) watched the sea from the top of the hill to spot mullet shoals and warn the fishers. The Morro do Bebê and Vigia trail is a loop, the closest to downtown, ending at natural viewpoints over the bay, the sea and Silveira Beach.
Points of interest
- Vigia Beach: where you start the climb, at the right-hand end of the central beach.
- Indigenous Solar Observatory: below, on Ponta da Vigia.
- Casqueiro Trail: the coastal path that starts right there.
- Praia do Silveira: seen from above, from the natural lookouts.
