What it is
The Garopaba Carnival is run by the city hall, through the Department of Tourism, Sport and Development, and lasts five days, from Friday to Carnival Tuesday. In 2026 it ran from February 13 to 17, with over 150 thousand revelers expected; in 2025 there were about 130 thousand.
The party spreads across town: downtown, the parade of the traditional street bands (blocos) and the seaside stage on Avenida dos Pescadores; on Praia da Gamboa, parades and concerts right on the sand, with a sound truck and regional bands; and Praia da Ferrugem, now a hub for large events.
What to do
Watch the Saturday parade, with about 10 blocos and over 20 thousand people, enjoy the local bands and DJs at night and, with children, go to CarnaKids at Praça Governador Ivo Silveira, with games, music, clowns and foam.

Tips
During the festival, some downtown streets are temporarily closed: walk or arrive early. At Gamboa, the parades and concerts are on the beach itself, so guests staying there can skip the downtown traffic.
The Garopaba Carnival is family-oriented: there is CarnaKids for children and town rules on loudspeakers in houses and on the beach. Bring water, sunscreen for the beach days and agree on a meeting point with your group.
